The City of West Torrens sought to revitalise Holland Street, a critical urban thoroughfare, by addressing its deteriorated infrastructure and enhancing road safety. To achieve this, the council engaged BE Engineering Solutions to deliver a comprehensive road reconstruction design and documentation plan that would elevate the street to modern standards while maintaining its role in the BikeDirect network.

The Challenge

Holland Street presented several key challenges:

  • Incorporated features to support safer shared use of the street by vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.
  • Selected durable, sustainable materials for the road humps and paving to ensure long-term performance and reduce maintenance requirements.
  • Integrated aesthetically pleasing designs to enhance the street’s visual appeal and contribute to the overall urban environment.

Provided detailed design documentation, including construction specifications and engineering drawings, to facilitate project delivery by the council’s contractors.
