BE Engineering Solutions (BEES) was engaged by the City of Marion to undertake a comprehensive Road Corridor Study in Sheidow Park, South Australia. This project aimed to enhance traffic safety, improve sightlines, and reduce vehicle speeds at key intersections, while also evaluating the corridor’s linemarking for better traffic management.

Scope of Work and Services

BEES applied its expertise in traffic engineering and urban planning to deliver a thorough analysis and actionable solutions.

Key elements of the study included Intersection Analysis and Sightline Improvements

BEES conducted detailed assessments of two critical junctions:

  • Edward Beck Drive and Berrima Road
  • Bella Drive and Berrima Road

These intersections were reviewed for sightline obstructions, vehicle speed management, and overall traffic flow efficiency.

Our Approach

The entire length of Berrima Road was analysed for existing line marking configurations to identify opportunities for enhancing clarity and ensuring compliance with current road safety standards.

BEES developed comprehensive Traffic Impact Statements for the City of Marion, providing a data-driven evaluation of the proposed changes’ potential effects. In addition, BEES delivered detailed cost estimates to support the City in budgeting and planning for the implementation phase.

Leveraging state-of-the-art design tools, BEES prepared concept design plans for intersection improvements. These designs incorporated strategies to:

• Improve sightlines for drivers and pedestrians.
• Implement traffic-calming measures to reduce speeds.
• Enhance overall road safety and usability for all stakeholders.

The outcome of this study provided the City of Marion with a clear roadmap to implement effective traffic management and safety solutions at Berrima Road.
